A nationwide movement for justice

Who we are

The U.S. Campaign to End the Death Penalty is leading a coalition of 50+ organizations in a coordinated strategy to end the use of capital punishment once and for all. Members of the coalition are engaged in public education, advocacy, organizing, communications, litigation, and research at the state and national level.

In a photo from 2015, Sister Helen Prejean (author of "Dead Man Walking" and ardent death penalty opponent) stands in the center of a sea of reporters, cameras, and microphones all aimed at her. She is wearing a gray jacket and carrying a black laptop bag. Photo was taken outside the courthouse during the sentencing of Dzhokar Tsarnaev, who was convicted of committing the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing.
