This beginner-friendly session will walk through the basics of felony murder in California and the reforms that have created new opportunities for resentencing. Felony murder has sent thousands of people to prison for life — often without regard to their individual actions — and understanding how these laws work is a critical step toward change.
The Oregon Justice Resource Center welcomes you to join our one-day gathering in downtown Portland for everyone wanting learn about and support the ending of the use of solitary confinement in Oregon prisons. At this event, you’ll hear from advocates, experts, and formerly incarcerated people. We’ll be exploring the evidence for the physical and psychological harm that solitary does to people, learn about the human costs of isolation, and discover the solutions that can take us to a place of healing and hope.
This workshop will allow you to engage with key restorative justice concepts to advance healing, transform the U.S. criminal legal system, and live out Catholic teachings on justice and mercy.
Join us for a screening of Racist Roots, a project of The Center for Death Penalty Litigation. Following the film, hear from Ed Chapman, who was exonerated in 2008 after spending nearly 14 years on North Carolina’s death row. Free and open to the public.
This is DPF’s 34th year honoring individuals whose mission is to abolish the death penalty. The honorees share DPF’s goal of abolishing capital punishment through public education, grassroots and political organizing, media outreach, and domestic and international coalition- building, and, in doing so, have inspired so many through their tireless efforts.
This event will feature the Pulitzer-Prize winning author Lawrence Wright. This inspiring event will be held on October 22, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston, Texas.
Every Monday, community members gather outside Central Prison in peaceful opposition to the death penalty. Open to everyone; no RSVP required.
On the First Friday of each month, CMN invites you to a virtual prayer vigil, a sacred space to lament upcoming executions and bear witness to the sanctity of all human life. Join us to stand in solidarity with people facing execution, their victims, and all who are impacted by the unjust system of capital punishment. The vigils include time for guided prayer, petitions, Scripture reflections, and contemplative silence. Catholic bishops, ministry leaders, and allies often lend their voices.
